Smrithi Vishwanath

Senior Faculty Member - Bharathanjali

Smrithi Vishwanathan is a senior disciple of Kalaimamani Smt. Anitha Guha, under whose guidance she completed her arangetram in 2012. A committed and accomplished artiste, she has been an integral part of Bharathanjali’s major group productions since 2007, reflecting years of sustained performance experience and close artistic association with her guru. She is also the granddaughter of the late Kalaimamani Smt. Seetha Doraiswamy, inheriting a rich artistic legacy.

A Doordarshan A-Grade artiste, Smrithi has established herself as a distinguished Bharatanatyam performer with notable appearances at prestigious venues including The Music Academy, Chennai, and the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. Her recent artistic milestones include the premiere of her debut Nrithya Naatakam, Saptamatrika, and her role as chief coordinator of Agre Pashyami, a major dance production in association with Sri Dushyanth Sridhar’s Desika Daya Trust, for which she also led the team during a 14-city fundraising tour across the United States for Aim for Seva.

Her artistry has earned her several recognitions, including induction into the Live4You Hall of Fame in 2024, the title Abhinaya Sudar, the Sarva Lakshana Natya Mayuri Excellence Award, Natya Ratnam from Nanganallur Sabha, and the Best Dancer award from Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha. She was also specially appreciated by Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam in a Deepavali Malar 2024 feature, Indraya Nadana Mani. Smrithi’s performances and artistic journey have been featured in leading publications such as The Hindu, where she was described as a promising young artiste to watch, along with coverage in other prominent magazines and media platforms.

 

Professionally, she is also a Chartered Accountant, balancing artistic excellence with academic and professional accomplishment.
